Initially, courses are "unavailable" to students so instructors have time to add materials. As an instructor, you always have access to your course, but you need to open it (make it "available") to your students in two clicks using the Quick Connect method or within your course by going to Customization and then Properties.
Student information is available in three different locations within a Blackboard course: through the Full Grade Center, from Roster which is linked under the red Tools menu, and from Users which is linked under the Users and Groups menu under the light grey Control Panel. The last two methods will list a the students' Official Rutgers Email Address.
There are many ways to get help with Blackboard. First, every page in Blackboard has context sensitive help which can be accessed by clicking on the support button on the right side of the screen. Second, step by step support documentation can be found through the support menu on the top of the main screen of Blackboard which includes a link to our Blackboard Faculty Documentation. There are various types of assignments in Blackboard. The traditional Assignment Manager is most popular for written assignments. It is integrated with the Grade Center and Groups feature as well as SafeAssign for plagiarism detection and Inline Grading for feedback. The Turnitin Feedback Studio is also available for plagiarism detection. Additional tools in Blackboard can be used for assessment depending on your learning objectives including: Tests, Blogs, Wikis, Journals, Discussions, VoiceThreads, Video Creation, and Turning Technologies (clickers).
